8. Outgoing feeder cubicles shall each contain 3 pole, 600 volt stored energy type,
electrically operated air circuit breaker with adjustable long, short time and
instantaneous and ground fault (alarm only) overcurrent trips, sized as indicated
on the drawings. Each breaker shall be provided with a control switch and pilot
lights. Each feeder cubicle shall incorporate ground fault sensors and alarm relay
with (2) N.O. and (2) N.C. contacts. Include visual and audible indication of
alarm. Alarms shall be displayed on front face of switchgear. Each breaker shall
contain current limiting fuses for 200,000 A.I.C. rating and fuses shall be sized to
provide downstream protection (series rated) for equipment such as automatic
transfer switches, etc.
9. All generator circuit breakers shall have adequate interrupting capacity for the
maximum short circuit that they will be required to interrupt. The maximum
short circuit shall be calculated in during the motor contribution.
C. Generator power and control switchgear shall be manufactured by Russelectric, Automatic
Switch Company. Any alternate shall be submitted to the consulting engineer in writing 10
days prior to bid. Each alternate bid must list any deviations from this specification.
D. Factory Test
1. The generator power and control switchgear shall be tested at the factory to
demonstrate compliance with the Specifications. Tests shall be witnessed by the
Owner and/or his representative. A certified copy of the performance test shall
be submitted before shipment to the job site. Any defects which become evident
during the test shall be corrected before continuing.
