1. In response to a "cranking” signal from the generator control switchgear, all
engine generator sets shall be automatically started, synchronized and paralleled,
and shall pick up and divide all "first priority" loads in stages within 10 seconds.
All second priority loads shall be picked up in stages within 15 seconds.
2. Load handling capability to be such as to permit the specified load to be carried
for 350 consecutive hours without trouble or damage.
3. Each generator shall be designed to carry its load with a lull load temperature
rise, as measured by resistance, of not more than 80° over a 40°C ambient
temperature. Limitations on the maximum allowable sub-transient reactance as
specified herein may result in a full load temperature rise less than 80°C. The
generator shall have a sub-transient reactance of less than 12% (at its specified
full load rating) as derived by re-rating the reactance down from the sub-transient
reactance based on the generator 130°C KW rating.
4. Speed governor operation such that at any fixed operating temperature variation
from any manually selected speed shall be zero for any steady state load from no
load up to specified load conditions.
5. Voltage regulation to be such as to permit a setting of the manual voltage
adjustment device hereinafter specified which will maintain the output voltage
within a range of plus or minus 1/2% of nominal for any steady state load from on
load up to the specified load conditions.
6. Stable operation to be such that for any particular steady state load (between no
load and the specified load conditions) the steady state frequency deviation shall
not exceed ±1/4%.
7. Stable operation to be such that for any particular steady state load (between no
load and the specified load conditions) the steady stale voltage deviation shall not
exceed ±%%.
8. Surge handling capability to be such as to permit a one step application of a load
whose "KW" is 100% of the specified generator set rating, without casing the
engine to stall.
9, Voltage transient deviation shall be 20 percent maximum from rated generator
terminal voltage on one step application or removal of full load when generator is
driven by diesel engine.
