PPS-Generators
5. Controls which initiate up to 30 seconds of cranking in response to signals from
automatic transfer switch cranking contacts, and then lock out to prevent further
cranking (until manually reset) in the event the engine has failed to start. Also
include switching provisions at the generator control switchgear to permit testing
of the cranking sequence by simulating voltage failure. Also include "Emergency
Generator Manual Start" switching provisions, located where directed, together
with 2 #14 runs (in raceway) to the engine control panel, and connected so as to
enable manual generator start-up by simulating voltage failure.
6. Controls which cause generator shutdown after normal source voltage on all
phases of all services has been restored (to at least 90% of the average maintained
normal value) for an adjustable period of from 1 to 30 minutes.
7. Modifications necessary for operation with No. 2 fuel oil.
8. Automatic float type battery charger. Charger shall be AC line compensated and
current limited with fused input and output, and with complete isolation between
input and output. It shall be complete with DC ammeter and voltmeter and
combination high/low battery voltage alarm contact. Minimum charging rate shall
be 10 amps at 24VDC.
9. Integrally factory-mounted lube oil pressure and jacket water temperature gauges
and running time meter, together with sensors and other devices necessary for the
complete and proper inspection, surveillance during operation, care and main
tenance of engine. Sensors shall be as required to provide "pre-alarm" and
"alarm" warnings as called for in the annunciator panel described hereinafter, and
shall each be wired to readily accessible terminals on die engine.
10. An annunciator panel of the manual reset type, installed, in the generator control
switchgear, to signal audibly, and to identify visually, any of the "pre-alarm" or
"actual alarm" conditions described hereinafter, as well as an engine shutdown
device to operate in response to any of the "actual alarm" conditions. The
annunciator shall be complete with silencing switch and "alarm silenced" pilot
light, and master relay with N.O. and N.C. contact for signaling engine shutdown
to external alarm system and shall indicate the following:-
a. Low jacket water temperature - pre-alarm.
b. High jacket water temperature — pre-alarm.
c. Low lube oil pressure — pre alarm.
