PPS-Generators

The control panel shall be completely enclosed with a protective cover and mounted separately from the transfer switch unit for safety and ease of maintenance. Sensing and control logic shall be provided on plug-in printed circuit boards. Interfacing relays shall be industrial grade plug-in type with dust covers. The control panel shall meet or exceed the requirements for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) as follows:

a. Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) - lEC 801-2 '

b. Electrical Fast Transients (EFT) -lEC 801-4 and NEMA ICS-1-109

c. Surge Withstand - (lEC 801-5 and IEEE 472 (ANSI C37.90A)

d. Electromagnetic Interference - Mil Std 461, Class 3

F. Provide for each automatic transfer switch noted with BPIS provide a fully-rated bypass­ isolation switch (BPIS) manufactured by the automatic transfer switch (ATS) manufacturer. Each (BPIS) shall be adjacent to its associated (ATS), complete with bus connections as required. Submit price difference, if any, for side by side or front to back ATS & BPIS. Each (BPIS) shall incorporate the following features and functions:-

1. It shall be possible to bypass and isolate (for maintenance and/or testing) the ATS without interrupting power to the load served by the ATS.

2. It shall be possible to transfer the load to either the normal or the emergency source when in the "bypass mode".

3. It may be integrally mounted in a common enclosure with the ATS, or field mounted in a separate NEMA I enclosure.

4. Each UPS ATS/bypass shall be of the closed transition transfer type as follows:

a. Shall transfer the load without interruption (closed transition) by momentarily connecting both sources of power only when both sources are present and acceptable. The maximum interconnection time is 100 milliseconds. The switch shall operate as a conventional break-before- make (open transition) switch when the power source serving the load fails. Designs that transfer in a delayed transition manner (intentional delay in the neutral position) when closed transition transfer is bypassed are not acceptable.
