Dear Sir: In reply to your submittal of contract drawings with a letter dated January 24, 1984 on the above referenced project, please be advised of the following specific comments of this department: 1. Drawing Nos. C-D2 and C-UT2 show the pressure relief manhole as type A-1 manhole. This is not acceptable as momentum of the storm water in the force main is not being broken. The details should show either the force mains, coming at a higher ■ elevation and dropping into the pressure releif manhole or pro­ vide an energy dissipating baffle wall in the manhole where the water hits before going to the outlet pipe of the man­ hole (see enclosed sketch). 2. Make minor corrections as marked in red on drawing. Nos. C--D2, C-UTl and C-UT2. 3. The computations submitted for the slab for the chamber should i be revised as under: - ti i) The slab shall be designed one way slab. ii) The loading to be used will be the greater of the two! ! a) 1.5K/Sq. Ft. plus own weight. b) H-20 loading (including impact) plus own weight.

iii)The slab should be checked for shear and bond.

iv) The slab should be checked for lifting and lifting hooks design should be submitted. v) The proposed'removable precast R.C. slab shall be set in mortar as showin in DEP standards sheet No. 18 (copy enclosed).
