Dear Amy:
The technics; terms of the decumerit are e CH beyond cur expertise, but seam pretty thorough; although as we all
know. 8 months have gone by and people have already disturbed most of the deoris/oust in their apartments.
Visible dust" IS the same duet that wifl coma back over and over again > unless the person never retumad to their
apartment over these 8 months. Therefore, thorough cleaning of this "visible dust* is great - but not permanent.
in eny case, once again it is our film stand that without the defining of common areas:
e'-evators/heiiways/Iobby/steinMeitsZ terraces end rooftops, we believe the cleaning of all apartments ere just a
partial measure. There was an unaeeepteble level of asbestos found on the 3181 floor of 310 Greenwich Street
durif^g e random testing done by our managemerM company. Also, when we recently had e professional come by
to visually inspect tPN, he said that he can see mat Ketniyn Freed'S temaes at 40 Harrison Street most definateiy
showed debris and putvertzed dust - which he knows without even testing must contain asbestos as wait as many
other conteminents. (Like most tenar^is here, she has not gone out to her terrace for fear of breathing in whatever
is accumuietad mere - some visible > seme not.)
We also feel sUongiy that again, without the NCR put back into active procedure, other efforts are less effective
than a bend-aid; and we fear greatly rebuilding on possibly contaminated ground The construction that win begin
- first on 7 World T ada Center will further serve to disperse toxic debris into the air, thus recontaminating offices.
stores and homes within the ground zero vicinity.....and since the wind blows from West to East, who knows hew
ter these dangerous particies will travel through lower Manhattan?
THEREFORE: Our uptmosl desire is that the NCR i« put Into immediate effect, thereby securing all of the
above and more. We support Congressman Nadlers desire for the NCR to be put immediately back into
action and request that we be informed as to whatever we can do - along with our tenants - to help speed
up this neccessary measure.
Our reoommendatiertt relating to this document now, are:
t. The proposal should make deer that wa need the cleaning of all buildings; should include not only residences
but sehoois, offices, stores, residential buiid.rigs. Csoh one of those win in themselves require specific different
type of Cleanups.
