3.04 DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

A. The Contractor shall perform removal of dust, debris and contaminated materials and provide the services as follows:

1. Licensed and certified New York State and New York City asbestos abatement workers and supervisors. In addition, all workers and supervisors must also have a valid certificate of completion from an EPA approved lead worker training course.

2. All applicable notifications, permits and approvals.

3. Work Area preparation, including protection of all surrounding fixtures as described herein.

4. Removal of dust, debris, and contaminated material to include the bllowing:

a. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, services, and equipment necessary to facilitate the removal and disposal of all contaminated dust and debris; cleaning, removal and disposal of all remaining tenant fixtures and furnishings; and demolition, removal and disposal of gypsum wall and ceiling board, HVAC units, ductwork, BX electrical cables, spray-on fireproofing, etc. All work is to be performed as described herein.

b. Contractor to provide engineering controls to reduce, control and isolate any aerosols caused by the work. Controls may include, but are not limited to. Work Area isolation with plastic sheeting, construction of wooden barriers, installation of HEPA air filtration devices, construction of decontamination chambers and cleaning of the Work Area. All work shall be performed as described herein.

c. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, services, appurtenances and equipment necessary for total dust, debris, and contaminated material removal under strict control procedures. Such work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

1. Cleaning and removing of specific non-porous tenant furnishings (i.e., kitchen cabinets and countertops, etc.), which will be re-installed by another contractor, following completion of the abatement work;

2. Bagging, removing, and disposing of all porous items (including, but not limited to, gypsum board, spray-on fireproofing, fiberglass batting and pipe insulation, etc.) as asbestos contaminated waste;

3. Cleaning, removing, and proper disposal of all non-porous items (including, but not limited to, HVAC ductwork, book shelves, appliances, etc.), unless otherwise noted;

4. Using HEPA vacuuming and wet wipe methods, and/or other appropriate methods as approved by Ambient Group, to remove contaminated dust from any non-porous items that will not be physically removed;
