Re: Limited Ambient Environmental Sampling 37 Murray Street Apartment 5A New York, New York January 23, 2002

JCB#: 02-2564

Dear Mr. Dagger:

J.C. Broderick & Associates, Inc. (JCB) performed limited environmental sampling at the above referenced location. The environmental sampling consisted of the following:

Ambient asbestos Micro Vac sampling was performed by a New York State Department of Labor (NYS DOL) certified inspector and air sampling technician. The sample collected was analyzed utilizing transmission electron microscopy (TEM) via ASTM analysis method D5755-95. This is a qualitative methodology, therefore any detectable concentration of asbestos fibers is a failing result.

One (1) composite MicroVac sample was collected from the apartment. As you can reference from the attached analytical report, this sample did reveal a detectable concentration of asbestos fibers. The MicroVac sample collected from the closet did not reveal any detectable concentrations of asbestos fibers.

Dust wipe sampling for the presence of lead, copper, and chromium was performed by an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified inspector. Analysis of samples was conducted by an Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (ELAP) certified laboratory. The current standard for lead dust in the New York City Department of Health Code part 173.14.e.4.dd., specifies that to clear a work area for re-occupancy after performing certain lead hazard remediation work, clearance dust wipe testing for floor samples must be equal to, or less than 40 micrograms of lead per square foot.
