Subject: Follow Up Air and Bulk Sampling Results for the American Stock Exchange, New York,
NY.
Dear Mr. Coffey:
This report includes the results of additiottal tests taken September 21", and October 2'', 2001 as
well as results from tests taken on September 21 and September 24 end not reported in-the 28 September.
2001 report. The air and bulk sampling locations and results are reported below. Asbestos samples were
collected according.to New. York State and U.S. EPA standards and analyzed according to U.S. EPA
standards using Transmission Electron Microscopy. Other substances were collected and analyzed using.
the National Institutes for Occupational Safety and Health protocol.
Twenty-seven asbestos micro•vacuum samples were ;,ollected because of the concern that
asbestos material may be on different surfaces including furniture, carpets, and floors. In all 27 asbestos
micro-vacuum samples asbestos was detected (Tables in rear of report). no
Staff access to certain section$ of certain floors in 22 Thames was needed before the air testing
was completed. However: the bulk samples collected frou 22 Thames indicated trace amounts of
asbestos and therefore are not considered by NIO'SH and OSHA to be a health risk.
Since the 15" floor end the 12" floor had screening levels that were elevated follow up sampling
