PPS-Generators
2. The voltage regulator shall incorporate 3-phase true RMS sensing specifically
designed for jhe application.
3. The exciution system for the voltage regulator shall utilize a permanent magnet
generator, except that a self-excitation system may be utilized where the voltage
regulator is of a type specifically intended for non-linear load applications. Such
regulator shall not incorporate any SCR's in its circuitry, and it shall be complete
with isolation transformers and filtering as noted below.
4. Isolation transformers complete with filtering equipment, shall be provided to
minimize the effect of distortion on the voltage relator power supply and
sensing circuits, on governor control and supply circuits, on instrumentation and
relaying and on other voltage sensing components.
5. Voltage and current sensing devices shall sense true RMS values, and frequency
sensing devices shall sense zero crossover.
G. The generator of each generating set shall be equipped with amortisseur windings and
other features necessary for parallel operation with other generator sets, and shall be sup
plied with all appurtenances necessary for operation including the following;-
1. Integrally factory mounted exciter and all other appurtenances necessary for self-
contained excitation.
2. Voltage regulator incorporating all features necessary to permit synchronizing and
parallel operation of the generating set with other sets. The voltage regulator
shall be installed in the generator control switchgear, and shall include provision
for manual adjustment.
H. Each emergency generating set shall be arranged to operate as certified and coordinate
with conditions and facilities established on the basis of the following assumptions :-
Weight of End Unit- 15,000 lbs.
(Ready to Run)
Overall Length of Unit- 15'-O"
Overall Width of Unit- •6'-0"
Overall Height of Unit- lO'-O”
Height of Unit Above Sea Level----- Within 1,000 Ft.
