Dear Mr. Carlock;
In reply to your latest submittal of revised plans for the referenced
project with a letter dated June 15, 1981, please be advised of the
following comments:
1) The sectional drawings along the route of the proposed 18"
diameter rerouted sewer indicate that the clearances between this
sewer and adjacent paralled utility lines located above it
will leave insufficient trench width for access to the sewer
in the event that replacement should become necessary. Therefore,
to minimize the possibilities of replacing this sewer, it is
required that the proposed sewer be class 56 Ductile Iron Pipe
with "Push On" joints, laid on class "35" concrete cradle on un
disturbed soil. It is also required to maintain a 4'-0" minimum
clear width over the proposed sewer alignment. A sketch is inserted
in the enclosed, marked-up copy of the submitted plans to
illustrate the above comment.
2) A complete profile of the proposed, rerouted 18" diameter sewer
should be shown in the plans. The profile drawing should indicate
all clearances with adjacent crossing structures and other utilities.
3) Drawing WTC-C2-81 shows the proposed 18" diameter sewer to be con
nected directly to the existing 3'-6" X 2'-0" brick sewer in Church
St. just west of the proposed manhole No.3, without the use of a
manhole. Since this method of connection may damage the old existing
brick sewer, it is required that a manhole be constructed on the
existing sewer to receive the new 18” connection. As a suggestion,
to avoid interference with the existing telephone ducts located
above the sewer, manhole No. 3 may be re-designed as an L-shaped
M.H., with the existing brick sewer located within the horizontal
leg of the "L". Details of any such manhole should be submitted
for review as part of the contract plans. An existing manhole
in proximity to this proposed connection may be eliminated, and
necessary modifications made to accommodate the existing 12"
diameter catch basin connection.
