SECTION 2.0: HAZARD INFORMATION & RISK ASSESSMENT

2.1 HAZARD IDENTIFICATION SUMMARY

Based upon the known work activities required for the WTC Emergency Project, there may be a potential for exposure to a number of hazardous conditions during the performance of the specific work. These conditions, and their potential causes, are summarized in Table 5 below.

Since these hazards are identified and addressed through the JHA process for each task, personnel involved in WTC work activities shall review and understand the applicable JHA(s) before beginning work on any WTC Activities.

2.2 JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS (JHA)

2,2.1 General The primary tool used to identify and mitigate hazards associated with individual field activities for WTC work are the Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs). These documents specifically describe the hazards associated with the work, and the mitigation measures required to either eliminate or control p ersonnel e xposure to these hazards. Therefore, while this ES&H Plan provides the general and programmatic safety information required for the WTC Emergency Project, information regarding job/task specific hazards will be found in the JHA(s).

2.2.2 JHA Preparation: Each contractor shall prepare JHAs in accordance with the requirements outlined in their individual ES&H Plans for their organization. The JHA is typically developed and prepared by a Team of personnel.
