. I one-percent level, they did everything they were obligated to do to clean up. In our building, this consisted of cleaning the windows from inside the apartments with Windex and paper towels, which they then left in the tenants’ kitchen trash. Now, close to six months later, we still have substantial dust deposits which accumulate regularly in our buildings’ common spaces and in our apartments. Tenants are becoming increasingly ill—symptoms are NOT decreasing as was expected. Comprehensive testing, especially of bulk samples, is costly for individual tenants/tenant associations, so we have a hard time proving that the conditions are dangerous. We request that you immediately provide the full results of any testing done at or in the vicinity of our building at 80 John Street (between William and Gold). If there wa? no testing done, we want an explanation as to why not. In addition, we request immediate intervention by the DEP to provide testing in this area. We have bulk samples collected from indoor air conditioners under appropriate measures (certified asbestos personnel wearing protective gear in a contained negative air environment) but we have not been able to afford the tests we require, including TEM, full particle analysis and metals levels. We are taxpayers (many in high brackets, I might add!) and are asking for your action in using some of those tax dollars to help ensure our health and safety. Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this extremely important matter. Best Regards, Cynthia M. Lane President, 80 John Street Tenants Association
