OEM Presentation Topical questions rec’d from staff 21 February 2002

Transportation General Goal is to disseminate to staff the considerations being taken in the short and long term. Anyone can figure out answers to some of the questions below, I would like staff to understand short v. long tom planning re: transportation, and also how and when increased capacity is considered and implemented. This would likely be an appropriate time to address our collection of zip code information for companies with 200+ employees and how that may be repurposed by transportation organizations.

Transportation Questions - What 13 the best way for businasses on West Street to get to their locations and for their clients to gain easier access? Pedestrian - What Is the status of the footbridges over West Street to the World Financial Center? Passenger Vehicle - When will West Street and the BBT be reopened? Commercial Vehicle Mass Transit What is the status of the 1 and 9 train routes to Lower Manhattan? - What is the status of the stations for the 1 and 9 trains in Lower Manhattan? ~ What is the status of the Path Train? When will it be up and running again? How can businesses find alternative solutions until the Path train station is rebuilt? - What is the status of the commuter ferry lines? Who can 1 call to get the latest information on routes, schedules, ferry lines and fares? Will the ferry services be expanded anytime soon? If so, what are the details as to time, place, service?

Air QualiU’/EovironTOental General Goal here is to get staff comfortable with safe vs. toxic levels of any chemicals in the air, and what is being done to monitor over time. How will such a large construction zone impact air quality? Is there any information on how the site was originally treated when a construction zone in the 1970s? Anything else you can think of,,.

Air Quality/Environmental Questions - Clients have reported breathing problems 6 rashes developing posc- 9/11. Various reports released recently seem to contradict earlier official EPA Btatementg about air quality in the Ground Zero vicinity. How can w« best respond to their coroplaints? - What aboui the air quality? Reports seem to disagree, so what should we be telling people? Who knows the right information, and who can I call for updates? - What is the best way for a business to get its landlord to cooperate in checking a building for air quality or in doing a proper dean up? - Is it true that a building deemed contaminated with asbestos is at risk for destruction or complete overhaul? What buildings are in this category?
