What is the proper way to check a building for asbestos contamination? Who oversees this function on the government side? is there a list of approved contractors to check for such environmental problems? What is a “safe” level of asbestos exposure? Where does a person go for the best advice on this subject?

Street Closings General Here it is important to understand the logistics that go into: construction in streetbeds (i.e. contingency planning, doing all (he work necessary on one street during the same dig, etc), die reasons behind traffic detours, etc. It would probably also be a good place to address the life of a street (as discussed in BONY) and any plans currently in existence to dig up certain portions of certain streets (reopening of West St also comes to mind).

Parks/Open Space General This is becoming less of an issue, with most questions directed at a need for parks and other nice quality of life improvements for employees to look at. Again, anything else would be welcome.

Language should be simple and clarify how a substation is connected to a station, how many serve lower Manhattan, etc. What is the macro situation in lower Manhattan?

Utilities Questions - Are the ConEd lines still blocking areas around lower Broadway west of City Hall? - What are the back up systems now in place to ensure that there will be no power outages or telephone outages in Lower Manhattan in the future?

Service Providers General As far as Verizon is concerned, the question will naturally be, what is the Verizon contingency plan, which we know they leave up to their customers. I would ask that Verizon address how their contingency planning has changed since 9/11 from a customer service and a technical perspective.
