WTC Waste Hauling
Asbestos Containing Waste
1. Asbestos containing material or debris must be completely wetted before, during and after the removal to avoid hazardous air emissions. Dust generation shall be minimized at all times.
2. Asbestos containing materials must be packaged in containers that will not leak any liquid or solid waste. Suitable containers are leak-proof, or 6-mil plastic lined, roll-off containers and similar dumpster containers that do not leak. The containers must be fully covered for transport to prevent any asbestos containing materials from spilling or leaking from the container.
3. Vehicles shall be driven on top of a waterproof, embanked plastic tarp. The tarp shall be sufficient to collect wash water resulting from the cleaning. The water collected from the tank shall be collected and filtered prior to discharge into the sewer system.
4. The vehicles shall be washed with a low-pressure hose and hand washing until external visible debris is removed. Each vehicle should be wiped with a clean rag.
5. Personnel shall wear disposable coveralls, gloves, and at a minimum a half-face respirator equipped with HEPA filters. All protective gear shall be decontaminated as appropriate or disposed as ACM waste.
