The entry was made to ascertain the idition of the slurry wall and the freon tanks. DEP HazMat monitored for Freon 22 with a direct'aading instrument. All readings for freonZZ were zero, in addition, water sampiss from the floc d path train subway tracks were taken. Samples will ue analyzed for Freon 22 and results will reported 10/1. As many precautions as possible for safety and exposure were taken given the ulHione of entry. DEP PazMat monk /ed the atmosphere for oxygen, explosive conditions, free 2 and volatile organice. DEP determined that conditions at the time of entry were satistactory for use of respirators, Supplied air was carried os an emergency backup in the event of encountering unforseen conditions.

Washington tlarket Park

The childrens sand box at Washington Market Park on Chambers and Greenwich was cleaned out on 9/30. Reports of private residents taking samples and finding asbestos in the sand were alleged. DEP and EPA have not seen any reports or analysis. DEP took 3 samples of sand from the s^dbox on 9/30. Anaylsis Indicated two samples contained trace levels of chrysoltlle and one samp e was negative.
