Battery Park city 1 The blayground area in North Battery Park City is still scheduled for Monday at 7:00am to be cleaned. This will Include die removal of sand from the sandboxes. This cleanup has been delayed to this point at the request of Battery Park Conservancy. Playground area is still not secured and DEP has maintained the recor^mendation that it Should have been cleaned up immediately. The EPA has confirmed tonig. it that the park will begin being cleaned at 7am on 10/1/01 regardless of the weather conditions. Issues at Gateway Plaza:

The facade of the 600 building (375 South End Ave), the garage area and inner court yard are still being cleaned .It is the responsibility of the building owners to assure the integrity of the apartments inside the buildings. They are aware of the EPA requirements for sampling and clearing apartments. *The checkpoint and wash station located at the 8W corner of South End Ave. and Albany Street has not been moved. Consideration for it’s relocation to the NE comer of South End Ave. and Albany Street was made In an effort to ease the access for tenants into the complex. However, It has b^n determined that easy access is available at the existing looatlrxi. The PD is fully aware Of the sensitivity of this matter and understands the need for tenants to easily access their apartnbents without imparting undue burdens on security restrictions. 4 Financial Center Noel ige from 9/29/01 update. Inspection of the building on 9/28 revealed contamination of lobby areas, restaurant and several bar areas. Some windows were blown out on the facade facing south. No cleanup work observed inside building. Cleanup is the responsibility of the building owner, including Inside areas, facade and rooftop. We will put outside area on list for as a priority to give access to the bulging.

Qreemrich to Breedway between Chambws and Murray This area was opened on 9/28, based on two oonjsecuttve days of air monitoring showing levels below reguaitory levels. New perimeter was moved from Chambers to Murray. Air sampling continues in this area to verify clearance levels. PCM results for 9/30 and TEM results (for PCM samples above .Olfibers/cc on 9/29) ere as follows: PCM8«0/01 PCM 8/29/01 TEM results from 0/29 Park PI ice and Church 0.024 fibera/ee 0.020 fibera/CO 16 (a/mmZ) Park Pit oe and Greenwich <0.009 fibers/cc <0.009 fibers/cc NA Murray and Chutoit 0.042 fibers/cc 40(a/mm2) Murrey i md Greenwich <0.009 fibers/cc iibSw NA 9/30:TWO of thoSe results are high. High winds again have increased the level of dust in the air. Note: M is the more conservative method of analysis. These samples along with other samples that hl »shown an Increase are being sent out for TEM analysis. TEM analysis for 9/29 samples resulted in acceptable results for maintaining new perimeter. There are acceptable levels below 70 structures/mm2. e/3o PCM samples above .Olfibers/cc have been sent out for TEM analysis. Both PCM and TEM are Indoor standards used In mostly static settings.
