Dear Amy;
The technical terms of the document are a bit beyond our expertise, but seam pretty thorough; although as we all
know, 8 months nave gone by and people have already disturbed most of the debris/dust in their apartments,
"Visible dust” is we same duel that wii' come back over and over agaW - unless the person never relurnad to their
aparlmert over these 8 months. Therefore, tnoraugh cleaning of this "visible dust* is great - but not permanent.
In any case, once again it is our firm stand that without the cioanmg of common areas:
elevatorsZhei'ways/lobby/sfairweiis/ terraces and rooftops, we believe the cleaning of all apartments a.'e just a
partial measure. There was an unacceptable level of asbestos found on the Gist Boor of 310 Greenwich Street
during a random testing done by our fr.anagem.eni company. A'so, v/hen we recently had a professions) come by
to visually 'inspect IPN, he said that he can see trial Katnryn Freed'S terrace at 40 Harrison Street most definately
showed debris and pulverized dust - which he knows without even testing must contain asbestos as wall as many
other contaminents. (Like moat tenants here, she has net gone out to her terrace for fear of breEthing in whatever
is accumulatsd there - some visible - some not.)
We also reel strongly that again, without th© NCP put back into active procedure, other efforts are less effective
than a band-aid; and we fear greatly rebuilding on possibly contaminated ground The construction that win begin
- first on 7 Wohd Trade Center win further serve to disperse toxic debris into the air, thus reconteminating oRices,
stores and homes within the ground zero vicinity..... and since the wind blows from West to East, who knows how
far these dangerous particles will travel through lower Manhattan?
THEREFORE: Our uptmost desire is that the NCP is put Into immediate affect, thereby securing all of the
above and more. We support Congressman Nadler's desire for the NCP to be put immediately back into
action and request that we be informed as to whatever we can do - along with our tenants - to help speed
up this neccessary measure.
Our leoommendaiions relating to this document now, are;
1. The prepoeel should make deer that we need the cleaning gf at' buildings; should Include not only residences
but schools, oMees, stores, residential buildings. 6seh one of those win in themselves require specific different
type of cleanups.
3. Cleanup of all air duds and conduits - ah air systems (not just airconditioner units) - al* intakes end outtakes of
