Dear Amy:
The technical terms of the document are a bit beyond our expertise, but seam pretty thorough; although as we all
Icnow, S months have gon® by and people have already disturbed most of the deoris/dust in their apartments.
"Visible dust" is the same duel that wHi come back over and over again - unless the person never returned to their
epartmer.t over these 8 months. Therefore, thorough cleaning of this "visible dust* is great - but not permanent.
In any case, once again it is our firm stand that without the desning of common areas:
elevators/heiiways/Iobby/stairwelis/ ten-aces and rooftops, we believe the deanirg of all apartments ere just a
partial measure. There was an unacceptable level of asbestos found on the 31 st floor of 310 Greenwich Street
during a random testing done by our management company. Also, when we recently had a professionel come by
to visually inspect IPN, he said that he can see mat Katnryn Freed’S terrace at 40 Harrison Street most definately
showed debris and pu*' *srized dust - which he knows without even testing must contain asbestos as well as many
ether centeminents. (Like most tenants here, she has not gone out to her terrace for fear of breathing in whatever
is accumulated there - some visible • some not.)
We also feel strongly that again, without the NCP put back into active procedure, other effona are less effective
than a band-aid; and we fear greatly rebuilding on possibly contaminated ground. The construction that win begin
- first on 7 Wohd Trade Center will further serve to disperse toxic debris into the air. thus reoonteminating offices,
stores and homes within the ground aero victniry...... and since the wind blows from West to East, who knows huw
tor these dangerous partioies will travel through iowar Manhattan?
THEREFORE; Our uptmoet desire is that the NCP is put Into immediate effect, thereby securing all er the
above and more. We support Congressman Nadler's desire for the NCR to be put immediately back into
action end request that we be informed as to whatever we can do - along with our tenants • o help speed
up this neccesaary measure.
Our reoommendatiorts relating to thia document now, are:
1. The proposal should make deer that we need the cleaning of all buildings: should include not only residence*
but schools, oMoes, stores, residential build.'ngs. Each one of those win in themselves require specific different
type of Cleanups.
3. Cisanup of all air duets and conduits > all air systems (not just air conditioner units) - al' intakes and outtakes of
