Help for People Who Have Temporarily or Permanently Lost Their Jobs If you are temporarily or permanently unemployed due to the World Trade Center Attacks, we recommend that you contact the agencies/organizations listed below. These agencies/organizations will help you get the assistance you may need. Please note that though each agency has its own eligibility requirements and caps on financial assistance, these limits continue to be re-considered in light of your needs.

Immediate Assistance If you need immediate financial assistance with lost wages, the following organizations may be able to help you. 1. Human Resources Administration (HRA). If you were formerly employed below Houston Street and have lost your job, or your income was impacted due to the World Trade Center attack, you rhay be eligible for one month of Disaster Food Stamps. You may apply for disaster food stamps at the two "one-stop assistance centers", the Disaster Assistance Service Center (DASC) at 141 Worth Street, and the Family Assistance Center (FAC) at Pier 94 at 12th Avenue and 54th Street.

2. Safe Horizon. Funded jointly by the September 11 th Fund of the New York Community Trust and the United Way of New York City, Safe Horizon is providing up to two weeks of lost wages (with a cap of $1,500) if employed below Canal Street. You may apply for assistance at one of Safe Horizon's borough offices, or at one of the two "one- stop assistance centers" listed below. f 3. American Red Cross (ARC). If you were formerly employed below Canal Street or your employment was directly affected, the American Red Cross may assist you with living expenses including food, mortgage/rent, monthly bills, planning, counseling and possible relocation. You may apply for assistance at one of Red Cross' local offices or at one of the two "one-stop assistance centers" listed below. As a rule, you should apply first with Safe Horizon. 4. The Salvation Army. Salvation Army is available to address needs that have not been met by either Safe Horizon or American Red Cross. If you were employed, or your source of income was below Canal Street, you may be eligible for assistance from the Salvation Army. In addition, if you were laid off from the airline, limousine, or hotel industries as a direct or indirect result of the WTC Attacks, you may be eligible for assistance. To apply for assistance, you may visit one of the two "one-stop assistance centers" listed below, or you may call (800) SAL ARMY to get assistance from your local Salvation Army Chapter.
