The water was off at 4:40 a.m. and approximately one hundred residential consumers were affected. DEP personnel initiated repairs on the failed section of water main and restored water service at 10:45 a.m. Due to considerable roadway damage and undermining, it was necessary to call the emergency repair contractor for permanent roadway restoration. The site was turned over to the contractor at 11:00 a.m. and restoration was completed on December 1, 2000.

8 Inch Water Main Break - 163rd Avenue Between 90th and 91st Streets; Queens On Tuesday, November 28, 2000, at 2:30 a.m., the NYC Fire Department reported a possible water main break in 163rd Avenue between 90th and 91st Streets. DEP personnel responded, were on location at 3:00 a.m. and found street flooding with a heavy flow of water emanating from a broken 8 inch water main in 163rd Avenue, west of 91st Street. The Fire Department and the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management were on location and traffic was safely diverted around the water main break area. The crew called for assistance and initiated a shutdown on the 8 inch water main. The water was off at approximately 4:45 a.m. One hundred residential consumers were affected. Department personnel repaired the water main and water service was restored at 9:30 p.m. The damaged roadway was repaired and 163rd Avenue was re-opened to traffic.

12 Inch Water Main Break - Intersection of Third Avenue and East 104th Street; Manhattan On Wednesday, November 29, 2000, at 5:00 a.m., the NYC Fire Department reported a water main break in the intersection of Third Avenue and East 104th Street. DEP personnel responded, were on location at 5:30 a.m. and found considerable street flooding. The Fire Department, Police Department and the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management were on location. The Police Department diverted traffic off Third Avenue; East 104th Street was closed between Lexington and Third Avenues. The crew called for assistance and initiated a shutdown on the 12 inch water main. The water was shut off at 7:35 a.m. and approximately one hundred twenty-five residential consumers were affected. Third Avenue, with the exception of two lanes on the west side, was opened to traffic; however, East 104th Street remained closed. DEP personnel initiated repairs on the failed section of the water main and restored water service at 5:00 p.m. Due to considerable roadway damage and undermining, it was necessary to call the emergency repair contractor for permanent roadway restoration. The site was turned over to the contractor and restoration will be completed today.

12 Inch Water Main Break - Intersection of Broadway and East 14th Street; Manhattan On Saturday, December 2, 2000, at 5:04 p.m., the Transit Authority notified Central Communications that there was a leak in East 14th Street which was affecting operation on the south bound L train, causing service to be suspended. DEP personnel responded, were on location at 5:30 p.m. and determined that a 12 inch water main in the intersection of University Place and East 14th Street had failed and was flooding the subway tracks; in addition, there was some minor flooding in the basement of the commercial building on the south side of East 14th Street. There was no street flooding and roadway traffic was not interrupted. The crew initiated a shutdown on the 12 inch water main. They were able to effect an intersection shutdown. The water was shut off at 7:30 p.m. and no consumers were affected. The Transit Authority was able to restore normal service on
