• Fish Habitat Improvements Amawalk On Thursday, September 19, NYSDEC and DEP conducted an electro-fishing survey at Outlet to evaluate the recent dam rehabilitation and re-aeration of the release (this survey involves the temporary stunning of fish with so that they may be counted). Trout populations increased the dramatically (400%) from 1996 and are likely the result of improved dissolved oxygen in a direct result of tailwater. Thus, watershed anglers can enjoy improved fishing opportunities as City, among City projects. In light of the recent report by Trout Unlimited -- that was critical of the others -- this new data on the Amawalk Outlet deserves mention.

Cryptosporidiosis Case-Control Study for April-May 1999 report on DEP attended a meeting at NYCDOH on September 20th to try to resolve issues on the Cryptosporidiosis cases observed during April and May of 1999. DEP staff had earlier provided extensive comments to NYCDOH on their draft report and the meeting was an opportunity to and confirm agreement or discuss unresolved issues. The outcome of the meeting is that DEP NYCDOR appear to be in agreement on the report and NYCDOH will prepare a revised version, based on the comments from DEP and NYCDOH staff. This report will be discussed at a September 28th meeting with EPA.

Distribution Brooklyn Parkway On Saturday, September 16, 2000, the 24 inch water main inNeptune Avenue from Ocean adjustments were to West 8th Street was shutdown because of a leak at West 6th Street. Community Board Budget Consultation Meetings - Fall Series; Citywide Community, DEP is continuing the second round of Fall Budget Consultation Meetings with the City for their Boards. These meetings have been well received generally and DEP has been congratulated work and cooperation.
