2B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF DIRECTOR/DEPUTY COMMISSIONER

Principally responsible for managing all activities related to the use and sale of water from the New York City water Supply system and the enforcement of all rules and regulations governing such use and sale.

The Director is directly responsible for managing all activities of over 600 Bureau employees located at seven locations throughout all five boroughs of New York City, and is indirectly responsible for the activities performed by about 300 personnel employed by private meter installation and repair contractors, as well support engineering consulting services working for the as

City.

The Director holds a policy-making position, which • encompasses interfacing with the First Deputy Commissioner, DEP Commissioner, and top City government officials, including the office of Management and Budget, Comptroller's Office, Department of Personnel, Department of Finance and Law Department.

Principally responsible for managing the billing and collection of $1.3 billion in annual water and sewer charges; the implementation of the City's $300 million Universal Metering Program $300 million fixtures retrofit program; meter reading and repair operations of our 800,000 water-sewer accounts and water oversees enforcement activities regarding the departments at present supervision use rules and regulations. This includes replace or of 54 contracts worth over $11S million to repair, install approximately 80,000 water meters per year throughout the of New York City.
