Honorable Joseph J. Lhota Deputy Mayor for Operations [~ ~ , Q• City Hall S~ New York, New York 10007

Dear Honorable Lhota:

This is to let you know that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2 New York City Office will host a public meeting on September 14, 2000 at 290 Broadway, Room 27A, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. EPA is hosting the meeting to solicit and incorporate public feedback, where appropriate, for EPA Region 2's program priorities for the five Boroughs of New York City beginning October 1, 2000. The public meeting is a follow-up to the November 20, 1999 Enforcement Workshop hosted by EPA and the Department of Justice on behalf of the Interagency Task Force. EPA committed at the Enforcement Workshop to host a public meeting during the summer of 2000 in response to the public's request for a community role in government's program priority setting process. Subsequently, community leaders requested EPA to hold the meeting in September in order to avoid summer vacation schedule conflicts and maximize public participation.

A copy of EPA's invitation letter to the public is enclosed for your information. If you have any questions, please call me or have your staff contact Deborah Craig by phone at (212) 637-3521 or by e-mail at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Jeanne M. Fox Regional Administrator
