Re: One North End Avenue Ambient Project #211338

Dear Mr. Zuckermen:

The following is a summary of the indoor environmental quality survey that Ambient Group, Inc. performed on September 14th, 2001 at the above referenced location. The survey included sampling for levels of background gaseous parameters, airborne dust characterization and air sample collection for TEM analysis, as well as absence/presence of asbestos in settled dust.

Analysis of all indoor gaseous air quality parameters, which included carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and total volatile organic compounds groups I and group II revealed that all indoor readings were below OSHA, ACGIH, ASHRAE and other recommended industry guidelines and/or regulations.

Seven (7) air samples were collected from various locations on floors 3, 7, 10, 11, 13, 15 and lobby analyzed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for asbestos structures. The results of the analysis indicated that airborne asbestos levels at the time of testing were less than the analytical sensitivity of the instrument, as well as well below the EPA standard of 70 structures/mm2 and other recommended industry guidelines and/or regulations.

Seven (7) air samples were collected from various locations on floors 3, 7, 10, 11, 13, 15, and lobby and analyzed for dust characterization. The samples were composed primarily of fungal spores, skin fragments, gravel road dust, carbon particles, and cement dust. Although the concentrations of carbon particles, cement dust, skin fragments and fungal spores were slightly elevated, the levels detected should not pose any adverse health concerns to the building occupants.
