Personnel Entrance and Decontamination Procedures Utilizing Full
Decontamination Facility:
NOTE: Medical emergencies take priority over decontamination procedures.
1. All workers and authorized visitors shall enter the work area through the
worker decontamination enclosure system.
2. All individuals who enter the work area shall sign the entry log, located in
the clean room, upon each entry and exit. The log shall be permanently
bound and shall identify fully the facility, agents, contractor(s), the project,
each work area and worker respiratory protection employed. The site
supervisor shall be responsible for the maintenance of the log.
3. Each worker or authorized visitor shall, upon entering the job site, remove
street clothes in the clean room and put on a clean respirator (with new
filters, if appropriate) and clean protective clothing before entering the work
area through the shower room and equipment room.
4. Each worker or authorized visitor shall, each time he leaves the work area:
remove gross contamination from clothing before leaving the work area;
proceed to the equipment room and remove all clothing gxcept the respirator;
still wearing the respirator, proceed to the shower room; clean the outside of
the respirator with soap and water while showering; remove filters, wet
them, and dispose of them in the container provided for that purpose; wash
and rinse the inside of the respirator; and thoroughly shampoo and wash
himself/herself.
Following showering and drying off, each worker or authorized visitor shall
proceed directly to the clean room, dress in street clothes, and exit the
decontamination enclosure system immediately. Disposable clothing of the
type worn inside the work area is not permitted outside the work area.
