Re: Settled dust sampling for asbestos at P.S. 234M
Dear Mr. Orlan:
At your request, ATC Associates, Inc. representatives Mr. Yiannis Efstathiou (NYC-DEP asbestos investigator #82244 & NYS-DOL asbestos inspector certificate #AH 96-10905) visited, P.S. 234M located at 292 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007 on December 5"’, 2001. The purpose of the site visit was to perform settled dust sampling to be analyzed for asbestos content from locations indicated to ATC by an ENVIRON representative on site and as outlined in the approved by the NYC-BOE baseline sampling protocol.
Based on the ENVIRON baseline sampling protocol, a total of twenty-two (22) settled dust samples, utilizing the 3M Scotch Magic Tape - An Aid to the Microscopist for Dust Examination method by Gary Nichols, were collected from locations indicated to ATC by an ENVIRON representative on site and as outlined in the baseline sampling protocol. All collected settled dust samples were analyzed utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM). This method produces qualitative results only.
The prn-posed of the dust sampling is to determine if settled dust inside and outside the school building contains asbestos. ■
Analytical results indicated that none of the twenty-two (22) collected settled dust samples contain asbestos fibers.
The provided settled dust sample laboratory results are representative of the materials collected during ATC’s site visit only. These laboratory results should not be used to represent “similar” materials collected during other time periods.
