Dear Mr. Orlan:
At your request, ATC Associates, Inc. representatives Mr. Andreas C. Andreou (NYC-DEP asbestos investigator #82683 & NYS-DOL asbestos inspector / air sampling technician certificate #AII93-18603), Mr. Yiannis Efstathiou (NYC-DEP asbestos investigator #82244 & NYS-DOL asbestos inspector / air sampling technician certificate #AH96-10905), Mr. Herant Antonyan (NYS-DOL asbestos inspector / air sampling technician certificate #AH98-23217), Mr. Wagdi Abdelshahid (NYS-DOL asbestos inspector certificate #AH01-02278), Mr. Sebastian Ramirez (NYS-DOL asbestos air sampling technician certificate #AH00-22152) and Mr, Tenzin Namgyal visited the HS for Economics & Finance (M833) located at 100 Trinity Street, New York, NY 10006 on October 4"’, 2001. The purpose of the site visit was to perform a dust and ambient area air sampling to be analyzed for asbestos content throughout the school building and bulk sampling of the debris on the roof as per your request.
.As per your request, a total of eighty-si.\ (86) dust samples, using 3M scotch tape and a glass slide, and fifty-three (53) ambient area air samples were collected throughout the school building. Also, three (3) debris bulk samples were collected from the roof.
Also as per your request, all fifty-three (53) ambient area air samples were analyzed utilizing Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). As indicated on the attached summary lab results asbestos structures were well below the 70 structures/mm2, which is the acceptable level for reoccupancy following an abatement.
All eighty-six (86) dust samples and the three (3) bulk samples collected were analyzed utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).
Analytical results indicated that six (6) out of the eighty-six (86) collected dust samples contain chrysotile asbestos fibers. The six (6) samples found to contain chrysotile asbestos fibers were collected from the following locations:
