Re: Settled dust bulk sampling for asbestos at Stuyvesant H.S. (M477)
Dear Mr. Orlan:
At your request, ATC Associates, Inc. representative Mr. Yiannis Efstathiou (NYC-DEP asbestos investigator #82244 & NYS-DOL asbestos inspector certificate #AH 96-10905) visited Stuyvesant H.S. (M477) located at 345 Chambers Street, New York, NY 10007 on February 13"’, 2002. The purpose of the site visit was to collect settled dust bulk samples to be analyzed for asbestos content from locations, inside distribution air ducts and mixing boxes in the air handling units.
At NYC-BOE request a total of six (6) settled dust bulk samples were collected from inside distribution air ducts and mixing boxes in the air handling units. All collected settled dust bulk samples were analyzed utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).
The purposed of the dust bulk sampling is to determine if settled dust inside the distribution air ducts and mixing boxes in the air handling units contains asbestos.
Analytical results indicated that none of the six (6) collected settled dust samples contain asbestos fibers.
The provided settled dust bulk sample laboratory results are representative of the materials collected during ATC’s site visit only. These laboratory results should not be used to represent “similar” materials collected during other time periods.
