1 Re; Dust, bulk and ambient area air sampling for asbestos at P.S. 234M
Dear Mr. Orlan:
At your request, ATC Associates, Inc. representatives Mr. Andreas C. Andreou (NYC-DEP asbestos investigator #S26S3 & NYS-DOL asbestos inspector / air sampling technician certificate #AH 93-18603), Mr. Yiannis Efstathiou (NYC-DEP asbestos investigator #82244 & NYS-DOL asbestos inspector ! air sampling technician certificate #AH 96-10905) and Mr. Wagdi Abdelshahid (NYS-DOL asbestos inspector certificate #AH01-02278) visited P.S. 234M located al 292 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10013 on October 2"^ 2001. The purpose of the site visit was to perform a dust and ambient area air sampling to be analyzed for asbestos content throughout the interior of the school building and bulk sampling of debris on the roof as per a NYC-BOE representative.
As per NYC-BOE representative request, a total of fifty (50) dust samples, using jM scotch tape and a glass slide, and twenty (20) ambient area air samples were collected throughout the school building. Also, three (3) debris bulk samples were collected from the roof.
Also as per the NYC-BOE representative request, all twenty (20) ambient area air samples were analyzed utilizing Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Analytical results indicated that none of the collected ambient area air samples contain any asbestos structures, See attached laboratory report and results.
All fifty (50) collected dust samples and the three (3) bulk samples were analyzed utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).
Analytical results indicated that none of the collected dust samples contain any asbestos fibers.
Analytical results also shown that two (2) out of the three (3) debris bulk samples collected from the roof contain only traces of asbestos.
The dust, bulk and ambient area air sampling performed was limited to testing for asbestos in the locations indicated by a NYC-BOE representative.
