Dear Joseph,
In response to the request by Silverstein Properties to define the NC level in tenant space surrounding the 7'^ floor equipment room when the emergency generators operate, w'e offer the following comments.
Our calculations indicate noise criteria levels in spaces immediately adjoining the generator room will be about NC-50 to 55. This level is higher than a typical fan room containing a packaged air conditioning unit which is usually NC-40 to 45.
The generators produce a roaring sound like a racing truck engine ratha* than the heavy rumble associated with AC units. The loudness of the generators is, subjectively, about 40% greater than the AC unit.
But the important consideration is that unlike an AC unit, the generators will not operate except during emergencies and after-hours or weekends for monthly testing.
