RE: Mayor's Office of Emergency Management
Emergency Generator Noise
7 World Trade Center
Dear Joe:
In reference to the letter dated February 25, 1998 from Denis Miisom of Shen Miisom &
Wilke, I would like to know what is the basis of their calculations that determines the noise
level in the generator room? Is the calculation based on the installation of a generator
room equipped with additional soundproofing, or a similar installation to a standard machine
room?
With regard to the last paragraph, Shen Miisom & Wilke, Inc. stated, "..the generators will
not operate except during emergencies and after hours or weekends for monthly testing". I
would like to know what constitutes an emergency in accordance with the Qty's definition.
Thank you.
