Mr. Magdi Farag, P.E., Chief Division of Sewer Regulation and Control Bureau of Sewers NYC Depar-tment of Environmental Protection 40 Worth Street New York, NY 10013 Subject: West Side Connection Manhattan, NYC ‘ Dear Mr. Farag: Attached is one set of 100% plans and specifications for our proposed rehabilitation of the- foi*mer Conrail/New York Central West 30th Street Branch for Amtrak service. Please review the drainage aspects as they relate to City Sewers and provide comments by December 4, 1987. 4 For the most part, our drainage work consists of clean up and repair of the existing drainage system - clean out of pipes, manholes and catch basins - in this contract and in a prior right-of-way clearing contract. For purposes of identification, the drainage system can be divided into four distinct areas: Area 1: West 37th Street to West 60th Street (Sheets T-1 to T14). Area 2: West 60th Street to West 72nd Street (Sheets T-14 to T-19). Area 3; West 72nd Street to the Viaduct at 125th Street (Sheets T-19 to T-37) Area 4; Viaduct to Spuyten Duyvil (Harlem River) (Sheets T-37 to T-56). In Area 1, v/e are rehabilitating the existing piped drainage system. Outfall is pumped to City sewers at two locations - West 42nd Street and West 59th Street. We will be installing new pumps in the existing pumping stations as separate work. In Area 2, we are constructing a new gravity storm sewer to drain our 55 foot wide easement through the Trump parcel. Since right-of-way width is limited and the area is to be eventually overbuilt, we are installing a combined storm sewer/underdrain. The area between West 66th Street and West
