D. CONCRETE HANDLING & PLACING 1. Foundations Concrete for pile caps, scabs, beams, girders retaining walls and miscellaneous member's shall- be placed in the dry. Before placing any concrete ail equipment for mixing and transporting the concrete shall be clean, all debris and ice shall be removed from the spaces to be occupied by the concrete and the reinforcement thoroughly cleaned of ice or other deleterious coatings. All accumulated water shall be removed from the place of deposit before concrete is placed. Dropping of concrete through water will not be permitted.

2. The Subcontractor's attention is drawn to the expected difficulty involved in transporting materials across the aforementioned utility lines by truck unless a temporary bridge is installed. E. REINFORCEMENT 1.. The Subcontractor shall prespare and submit shop drawings of bar reinforcement for the Contractor’s approval in accord­ ance with the requirements of the General Conditions. Such drawings shall show; the element identification, bending dic-- grams, cutting, lists, inserts, spacers etc. and shall completely demonstrate the location, size, spacing, length and bending of the bar reinforcement. Shop drawings for concrete reinforcement shall be prepared i.n accordance with the American Concrete Institute "Manual of Standard Practice for Detailing Reinforced Concrete Structures", ACI-315. 2. Reinforcing cages for each element shall be completely assembled and securely tied and braced so as to maintain dimensional rigidity during placing of concrete.

F. FORMS Forms shall conform to the shape, lines and dimensions of the elements shown on the Contract Drawings and shall be substantially free from surface defects and sufficiently tight to prevent leakage of mortar. They shall be properly braced so as to maintain position and shape during the placing of concrete. Forms shall meet the requirements of ACI-341-68, "Recommended Practice for Concrete, work", and ACI-SP No. 4, "Formwork for Concrete".
