DOH
Received draft vehicle advisory as promised from DOH. Made comments and returned.
First Response
First Response peisoimel Fawzy and Haas made entry with FDNY and ESU into a new
un chartered area in the southwest corridor below the trade center. DEF provided real
time monitoring for vital support gases in the environment and took air and water samples
for further analysis. Investigation of the stability of the slurry wall was performed by
engineers. Dep took samples of water intrusion to determine if it is possibly from the
river. Additionally, air and water samples were taken to check for R22 refrigeraftt. Ab
attempt was made by rafts to try to get through a flooded area to the fr^n tanks to assess
there condition but was unsucc-essfiil because of debri in the pathway.
The daily ground zero monitoring for dangerous gases showed normal background levels.
Future Progress
DERTA has surveyed other areas inside die perimeter in an effort to target potential sites
to be opened. DERTA does not believe that it will be possible to clear any other areas
because of the close proximity to ground zero. Major work at ground zero would have to
be completed before we could reassess the feasibility of opening another area.
