General Questions Who is eligible? All residents of lower Manhattan, living south of Canal, Allen and Pike Streets are eligible on a voluntary basis to have their residences cleaned and/or tested and to be reimbursed up to $300 for the purchase of a HEPA filter vacuum. Qualifying residents may sign up for these services on EPA's WTC Web site or by calling the WTC hotline at 877-796-5471. How do I sign up? EPA has created an interactive request form that downtown residents can use, at any time of day, to submit their requests for cleanup and/or testing. The information needed to fulfill the requests is automatically entered into an electronic database to be used by our scheduling and cleaning contractors. EPA and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) have also set up a new hotline (1-877-796-5471) fordowntown residents to call to submit their requests for cleaning and/or testing. Information taken by hotline operators is automatically entered in the electronic database to be used by our scheduling and cleaning contractors. Operators will be available to take residents' information in English, Spanish and Chinese. Will the information I give you be held confidential? Individual information collected at the time you make your request as well as test results and any other information entered into our Dust Cleanup Database will not be made public. Only aggregate information (number of homes cleaned, etc.) may be made public. It will be necessary to provide information collected from to our scheduling and cleaning contractors. Residents may access their individual information through our Web site using the discreet confirmation number they receive when they make their requests. To further protect privacy, people will also be asked to provide the last four digits of their social security number to access their individual information. When will you begin scheduling appointments? EPA and New York City are working out the details of how scheduling, cleaning and testing will be done. Once the scope of work for the program is final, bids will be taken and contracts let. Residents' requests for cleaning are being taken in the meantime and this information will help EPA determine the scope of work that needs to be done. We currently expect to start scheduling cleaning and/or testing early in July. Top of Page How can I check on the status of my request?
