The impact of the WTC disaster on the seven historic buildings directly across the street from the WTC on the north, east and south is summarized below based upon preliminary information provided by New York Department of Buildings (NYDOB) and the New York Department of Design (NYDDC) and in material dated October 21,2001.

Barclay-Vesey 140-147 West NRE, ICL Art Deco skyscraper; Structural damage to Building Street one of first to exploiteast facade. Restoration of privately owned building is in process. Permit applications have been made to LPC. West Street 90 West Street NRE, ICL 23-story skyscraper Interior fires. Much Building designed by Cass damage on north Gilbert. Distinguished facade: some spandrel early example of beams exposed, dented Gothic detailing and severed; sashes applied to skyscraper shattered in floors 1- 15; extensive damage to terra cotta/granite exterior, and to marble detailing.
