From: Bershad, Deborah To: Friday, October 05, 2001 1:30 PM To: Flynn, Barbara /lam Subject: RE: oct 9th meeting

Dear Barbara, Great. Thanks for the update on that. FYI -- Cultural Affairs had a meeting this morning re: WTC Memorial with a variety of arts non- profits and City agency personnel. The gist of the meeting was that the public arts community wants to offer their assistance and expertise for any types of memorials or commemorative works. All of these entities would like to work cooperatively to ensure that NYC gets the most appropriate memorial(s) possible, with the recognition that many of the firehouses and police stations, as well as certain neighborhoods, may want a memorial to commemorate their dead apart from the probable larger memorial that will be developed for the WTC site. They will continue to meet with DCA over the next few months, with the idea of organizing a March 11th event. I'll keep you up-to-date. In addition, a number of organizations as well as the percent program have been receiving proposals from various individuals for memorials and don't know what to do with them. I agreed that the Art Commission would provide storage space for these proposals until such time as a permanent entity is formed that might want to review them. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thanks, Deborah ---Original Message---- From: Flynn, Barbara Sent: Friday, October 05, 2001 1:16 PM To: Bershad, Deborah Subject: oct 9th meeting Dear Deborah, Bob is on his way to City Hall - I hope to get his comments on both the Shea Stadium and Nobel monumet for the october 9th meeting. ... for Ms. Brodsky - not this week and perhaps not next week. As soon as we can get the Mayor to focus on issues such as appointments, it will be done. I will call Jean at her office.
