Paul, I think we should develop a short (sentence or two) answer to each point in case the Mayor's press office needs
something. See if you can start a draft. Indicate which agency would be responsible for such an activity and whether it is
already being done.

The following was provided to Kelly McKinney, Assnt. Comm. DOH. who, in turn, forwarded it to me as an FYI

Subject: Re: [ps234] FW: Rally downtown
just back from that meeting- the crux of it was to organize people to attend the rally Tuesday Dec 18 5:30 pm-
Art Spiegleman (best known for MAUS, Raw magazine, the black on black 9/11 New Yorker cover) is a stuy parent
and has designed a flyer for the rally~we
were all given prints of it to xerox and distribute- they are hoping for children with dust masks and gas masks and
hand-made signs as well as people from the
neighborhood, businesses, etc to attend-
people attending the meeting were mostly stuy parents with a few from ps/is 89 (who have been promised a hepa filter
vent system for the school before they return)
and one parent from ps 150- they are being forced back into their school Jan 7(?)
A rep from Manhattan Boro President's office attended- Rick Mullen- he confirmed that OEM is not responding to any
of the politicians (nadler, fried, silver, duane,
glick, etc)
someone reported that the big corporations are coming back to downtown offices in january-
there was discussion about doing this now when there is a lame duck administration, but since schools are being
forced back now, it can't wait- and hopes are that
this rally will encourage our new mayor and his administration to be responsive to neighborhood environmental/
school/ children/ health issues.
