they need a sound truck for the rally, any sound truck sources??

the eleven demands are listed at the bottom of this message-

There will be a meeting this Thursday, December 13 at 9:00 am located at the Hallmark residences, 455 North End Avenue, across the street from Stuyvesant High School with the chairs and PTA members of the other schools to begin to discuss an action plan regarding the truck routes and the location of the barge. Unfortunately, I can not make it this time and would like someone to volunteer to go from our committee. It can be more than one person. We do need representation at this meeting. The meeting will last no more than an hour or so. If you can go please email Peggy Sarlin (she is on the Stuyvesant committee) at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> and let her know you will be attending on behalf of PS234. Her Phone is 877-7980.

Subject: Rally downtown

The WTC Emergency Environmental Group has organized a rally to take place on Dec. 18th at 5:30 at City Hall (subject to change). They are in the process of receiving endorsements that will be posted in the flier. Stuyvesant PA has already given their support on this and I am hoping that all of our schools will endorse this as well. Many of our own issues are being addressed. They are hoping to have the flier done by Thurs. and the goal is to have it sent out in the backpacks on Fri. with a reminder note Mon. or Tues. Please go through the proper channels and let me know if we can put your school's endorsement on the flier.

These are the 11 immediate needs that are being demanded by residents, workers and students:

1. Overall coordination of clean up that is responsive to the community with public participation.

2. Move the barge away from the schools and residences.

3. Contain and control to prevent dispersal of debris.

4. Safe working conditions and enforcement of safety and environmental laws for ground zero and area workers.

5. Assessment and testing of environmental contaminants in indoor and outdoor spaces.

6. Timely and complete sharing of all public and private sampling data including health data.

7. Area resident, workers & schools must be notified prior to potentially hazardous work operations such as removal of freon trucks and demolitions.

8. Public health education outreach to students, residents and workers.

9. Health registry of affected persons.

10. Public must be involved in significant environmental and health decisions related to the clean up.

11. Immediate enforcement of applicable environmental laws including NYC asbestos laws.

There were a few minor changes made before the end of the meeting, such as adding in the diesel fuel problem, but I had to leave before that was resolved. I will send that info as soon as I receive it.

We also need ONE speaker at the rally that can speak for all of our schools (PS/IS 89, PS 234, PS 150). Stuy will have their own speaker. The speaker will have approx. 3 2
