Re: One Liberty Plaza Re-opening
Dear Mr. Berkowitz:
Thank you for meeting with us yesterday to discuss the re-opening of One Liberty Plaza for
occupancy. As you know, One Liberty Plaza is the home of such prestigious financial service
firms as NASDAQ, Goldman Sachs, Cleary Gotlieb Hamilton, Bank of Nova Scotia, Royal Bank
of Canada and Zurich Reinsurance. Brookfield's desire is to return these companies to their normal
business routine as quickly and safely as possible.
We respectfully request your approval to provide open access, via Broadway, to One Liberty Plaza
so that we may open the building on October 22, 2001. A ceremony has been planned for that day
and we have received commitments'from Mayor Guiliani and Governer Pataki to attend.
As discussed, we have been working around the clock since the horrific events of September 11,
2001 to restore this and our other properties to their original condition. One Liberty Plaza has been
certified to be structurally safe by Gilsanz Murray Steficek. Brookfield has repaired all building
systems, repaired all broken glass and cleaned all debris from the property. We are completing
some minor items including the facade cleaning and expect to re-open on October 22, 2001.
A summary of the work performed and the access plan we discussed is attached for your review.
Thank you for your help in this matter. We look forward to continued cooperative efforts between
our organizations as we work to recover from this terrible tragedy.
'nc~ely,
Daniel M. Kindbergh Ralph Blasi
