SAMPLING METHODS AND ANALYSES:
Viable air samples were taken using the N6 Aerotech Impactor. One Tryptic Soy
Agar plate was exposed in each area. Samples were taken for two minutes for a
total air volume of 56.6 liters/minute per plate. A total of ten samples were taken
indoors, with one additional plate exposed outdoors using the same technique,
for a background comparison.
Bacteria samples were cultured in Tryptic Soy Agar (with 5% Sheep Blood) for 2
days at a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. The analytical technique utilized
was light microscopy.

A portable Organic Vapor Meter (OVM) model 580B by Thermo Environmental
Instruments, Inc., was used to test for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the
air. This instrument detects and quantifies most organic vapors with a highly
sensitive photoionization detector (RID). It has an operating range of 0-2000
parts per million (ppm) with a minimum detectable limit of 0.1 ppm.
Calibration was done before and after sampling, with sources of "zero air" and
"span gas" (250 ppm isobutylene).
