Pursuant te, Section 25-310 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York, the Landmarks Preservation Commission hereby approves certain alterations to the subject premises as proposed in your application completed on March 11, 2002.

The uppro''t_d work consists of exterior facade work including cleaning the scone facade from the ground floor to the pedi -neat with Marbitrol cleaning agent and water not to exceed 500 psi; as shown in photographs, a Materials Safety Data Sheet; and a letter from the contractor, dated March 4, 2002; prepared by Remco Maintenan:e Corporation and submitted as components of the application.

In reviewing this proposal. the Commission notes that the designation report states that the National City Bank building, 55 Wall Street, is a Greek Revival style exchange building built in 1942 and designed by Isaiah Rogers, with upper floors designed by McKim, Mead and White added in 1907.

With regard to this proposal, the Conunission notes that the method of cleaning will not darnugc any significant architectural features or decorative masonry; that cleaning the facades will help return the building closer to its original appearance; and that the method of cleaning will safely and cfficicntly remove soiling from the facade. eased on these findings, the Commission determined the proposed work to be approprime to the building. The work, therefore, is approved.

This permit is issued on the basis of the building and site conditions described in the application and disclosed during the review process. By accepting this permit, the applicant agrees to notify the Commission if the actual
