I until all the ingredients are uniformly dis­ tributed throughout the batch and the mass of the concrete is homogeneous and uniform ’ in color. Discharge of concrete shall be completed within a ■ maximum period of 30 minutes. No new materials shall be permitted to enter the mixer until all of the proceeding batch has been discharged, riixing and handling equipment shall be cleaned st fre- quent intervals while in use. 3. All concrete shall be used while fresh and before there is any evidence of initial set. Any con­ crete which has achieved its initial set shall be rejected and not used in the forming of pipe or piping encasement. No retempering of concrete will be permitted. •C. CONCRETE TESTING 1. In accordance with the general conditions and as amended herein tests of the concrete will ba made by an approved independent testing and inspection laboratory hired by the Contractor. The Subcon­ tractor shall provide casual labor and assistance to the testing laboratory personnel for the,test­ ing specified in this section. I 2. At least one test of slump and air content shall be made on fresh concrete for each 50 cubic yards of each class of concrete (or fraction thereof) placed in any one day and in any event not less than one test for each class of concrete each day it is used. Slump shall be determined in accor­ dance with ASTM Specification C-143-78. Air con­ tent shall be determined in accordance with ASTM Specification C-138-77 or C-231~8i. Additional tests shall be made as required to demonstrate that the requirements of the Specifications are being met. 3. A set of three cylinders shall be molded for each 50 cubic yards, or fraction thereof, of each class of concrete placed in any one day's concreting, for testing at the age of 28 days., An additional two cylinders shall be molded at intervals as above for testing at the age of 7 days. Test cylinders shall be molded in accordance with ASTM Specification C-31-69. '
