1. Welding rings shall be used at all butt welded joints. Rings shall be -Robvon Type CC, Imperial Std. 136-S or approved equal. 4. Coating of 66" ID River Water Piping: The in­ terior and exterior surfaces of the 66" I.D. steel pipe and fittings including access man­ holes, leak plates and other attachments shall be shop coated by an approved coating company such as "Energy Coatings Company of North Arlington, New Jersey" or as approved by the engineer. (a) Interior Coating: The interior sur­ faces shall be prepared by sandblasting to a,near white condition as per Steel Structures Fainting Council SSPC-SPIO- 63. All sand shall be removed from the pipe and the surface thoroughly brushed down to remove dust. Provide coal tar epoxy coating "TARSET C-200" manufac­ tured by Porter Paint Company. The coating shall be applied in two coats and the total dry fill thickness shall be a minimum of 16 mils. The finished coating shall be tested for pinholes using a .67-1/2 volt Tinker-Razor holi­ day detector instrument. Any pinholed areas shall be marked and touched up following the same procedure as above. (b) Exterior Coating: Surfaces shall be prepared by sandblasting to a near white condition as per Steel Structures Painting Council SSPC-SSPC-SPlO-63. Provide one coat of Coal-Tar Enamel, Fibrous-Glass Mat, and Bonded Asbestos- Felt Wrap shall be brush, roller or spray applied to a thickness of approx­ imately 6 mils and allowed to harden. Materials, method of application, tests and handling shall conform to the AWWA Standard C-203, Section A 1.5, 1973 edition.
