1. Backfill, except for- space between relieving platforms, siiall be recent fill or similar clean sand coirpacted to 95% or ultimate standard Proctor density. 2. Backfill for space betvxien relieving platforms shall be uncompacted lightweight fill ccsiposed of cinders (at least 3 years old and well-leached out) or expanded shale with a maximum particle size of 3 inches.

3. Maximum corpacted lift thiclcness shall not exceed 1'0" in structural areas, such as footings, roads, sidewalks. Maximum ccrpacted lift thickness shall not exceed 24 inches in non-structural areas. E. ’DTSPOSRL

The Subcontractor shall dispose of excavated material in accordance with MRJD Dravzing No. Sp-1, dated 1/15/82. With respect to offsite disposal of naterial, Subcontractor shall cctrply with requirements of General Conditions, Paragraph 2.16.07. ?^cent Fill (F-2) - Recent fill as defined in Paragraph II.B.l.a of this Section~siiall be stockpiled on the Battery Park City site in areas designated by the Contractor. 2. Miscellzmecus Unsuitable (F-1) - Miscellaneous unsuitable as defined in Paragraph II.B.l.b of this Section shall be disposed of off-site at locations selected by the Sijbcontractor. All costs of transporting, permits and disposal sites shall be borne by the Subcontractor.

3. Alternate - The Contractor shall have the operation of having Subcontractor dispose of portions of these materials .which cannot be proprely di.sposed of on the Batter}^ Park City site, as fill conveyed to New York Department of Sanitation. In such event Subcontractor shall be responsible for all. costs attendant to such disposal and contract price shall reflect any credits realized by Subcontractor, See Bid Form Alternate C.l.
