D. Tasks

The NYC DEP shall direct services. Air monitoring and analysis firm must be prepared to mobilize within 72 hours of the contract award. The NYC DEP estimates the monitoring at approximately 50 buildings. Multiple work areas shall be cleaned and monitored simultaneously. A minimum of 3 samples for small asbestos projects and a minimum of 5 samples for large projects shall be collected and analyzed. At a minimum, 1-area sample on small projects and 2- area samples on large projects shall be taken inside the work area during clean-up activities. One area sample shall be taken at the interior of the building within 10 feet of each access to the roof. Sampling must be conducted during the entire work shift. The sample volumes required would range from 1200 to 1800 liters at flow rates between 2 to 10 liters/min. Extreme care must be given to avoid overload on the filter surface.

Air sampling equipment shall not be placed in comers or near obstructions. Locations near vents and other structures on the roof which would unduly affect airflow shall be avoided.

The work area shall be allowed to dry completely before the visual inspection is conducted. The visual inspection shall confirm the absence of visible debris in the work area, including but not limited to the roof surface, the gutters, the drains, parapets, etc. A technician must be available in the vicinity when the area is dry to perform the visual inspection.

Air sampling shall be considered satisfactory when each sample is found to be below 70 s/mm^ by TEM analysis. Post abatement clearance air sampling shall not be required provided that all samples collected during the clean-up activities are below 70 s/mm^.

E. Reports and Billing

Type analytical reports and count sheets shall be transmitted to the NYC DEP {Fax (718) 595-6307 and (718) 595-3744} within 15 hours of the sampling end time. Each report must be submitted with the corresponding chain of custody form. The DEP will require typed clearance inspection reports signed by the technician who performed the inspection for each abatement site. The original reports shall be mailed to the NYC DEP along with the invoice within 7 days after the reports were faxed. The invoice for each job will itemize cost, specifying the service performed, turnaround time and quantities. All report shall be mailed to the attention of Mr. L.
