For modifial aggressive air sampling forced air equipment shall not be employed. iii. All other procedures are identical for aggressive and modified aggressive air sampling. . b. One 2{)-inch fan shall be installed per l (),000 cubic feet of room space and run at low speed. The fan shall operate continuously throughout saiiipli ng and shall not be turned off until sampling is completed. c. For studio apartments 3 samples shall be collected. For 1-bedroom apartmenisand above 5 samples shall be collected. Sampling equipment shall be placed in H\ ing areasand away from obstructions. The sampling cassette must be placed on a tripod and not taped to existing surfeces. ' ■ d. Common spaces will be sampled without the use of forced air devices (fans, leaf blowers etc). For small spaces, less than 160 square feet. 3 sampleswill be collected. For large spaces greater than 160 square feet anti less than 25.000 square feet 5 samples will be collected. For spaces grerder than 25.000 square feet, 1 sample will be collected for each 5,000 square feet. Sampling equipment shall be placed away from obstnictioHs. The sampling cassette must be placed onalriptxklirected downward at a45 degree angle and not taped to existing surfaces. e. Air samples shall be collected in accordance w ith the provedure.s specified in NIOSH 7400 Method for PCM and 7402 for TEM. Air sampling cassettes need to be monitored to ensure pumps are not clogging by monitoring flow rates, the mininmtn sample volume required is 3600 liters. £ Wipe samples will be collected at 10 percent of the residences where saittpliBg only has been requested, up to maximum of 50 units, as instructed by EPA. Wipe samples will be collected for dioxin, total metals anti mercury (Notei a separate sample is required for each parameter). All wipe samples will be'collected in accordance with procedures specified in HUD Appeadix 13.1, g/ 'fhecontraclor shall document all the necessary in formation regarding sampling activities, flll out all Held logs, data sheets, and cbain-of-ciistody fomis. The contractor shall use F2L for all sample and chain-of-custody dociimeotation. Samples must be labeled and accompanied w'ith completed chain of custody forms before shipping to the designated laboratory. The label must includethe EPA Project Tracking Number. Samples will be packed, sealed and shipped to EPA Contract Laboratoiy for analysis. h. All information must be maintained using the secure EPA website(ufl, user name and password to be provided by EPA) .Oates for monitoring aadZor cleaning shall be provided to EPA electronically in an EPA approval fortnM within 24 tons. Fnformation on sampling activities (date, sample ID) shall be provided to EPA, via the website, withitt24 hours of completion of sampling. ■ •
