NYC 9/11 Public Portal Document

Gilsenan, Michael From: Smyth, Virginia Sent: Thursday, October 18, 2001 4:40 PM To: Camardella, Frank Cc: Tazzi, Louis; Gilsenan, Michael Subject: Room Rental - WTC

As per our conversation on Sept. 12, 2001, we requested approval to rent one hotel room in Manhattan, for use by the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team. As a result of the World Trade Center Disaster of Sept. 11th, the staff in this division was required to work around the clock in the initial stages of the disaster. The hotel room would be shared by approximately 15 staff members for showering purposes, and short naps. You had requested that the room also be made available to staff from Fleet Administration working in Ground Zero, if needed. We of course agreed.

Arrangements were made with the Renaissance Hotel at the government rate, and an invoice was received for 3 nights. The room was cancelled as soon as showering facilities were located in a health club in the vicinity of the disaster.

If you require any additional information, please let me know.
